Amazon Merch Rejection: Why?

I was rejected by Amazon Merch on Demand, aka “Merch by Amazon.” I was surprised as I check many of the basic boxes – established Amazon Seller, Brand Registry experience, my own IP. Here’s the message I got in my Amazon Merch rejection email:

Amazon merch rejectionThe Amazon Merch on Demand program lets sellers print t-shirts, mugs, and other items without having to handle any inventory. In that sense it’s a little like Amazon KDP.

Why did this Amazon Merch rejection happen? I speculate it’s because the Amazon Merch program is filled up with bottom-feeding passive-income apostles looking for an easy shortcut to Amazon riches. They’ve clogged up the Amazon marketplace with cheap items, often made with designs from sketchy designers on Fiverr, as I described in a recent video:
